2. A pack of 一包（多種用法）

“Pack” 有多種不同的翻譯，也常常與別的字並在一起通用，像是 “backpack” 就是「背包」，“package” 就是「包裹」或「包裝箱」。“A pack” 比較特殊的用法是描述「一派謊言」(a pack of lies)，讓我們會意到，通常愛說謊的人說一個謊言是不夠的，所以不真實的事情像是雪球一樣，越包越多，也自然的變成「一包鬼話」。

• a pack of cookies 一包餅乾
• a pack of soda 一包汽水
• a pack of beer 一手啤酒（六瓶）
• a pack of wolves 一群狼

A: Are you going to the grocery store?
A: 你要去超市嗎？

B: Yes, would you like anything?
B: 對，你要買什麼嗎？

A: The children ate all the snacks, and we are out of beverages.
A: 小朋友把零食全吃完了，我們也沒有飲料了。

B: How about a few packs of those organic cookies that they love, a 12-pack beer, and a 24-pack soda.
B: 就買幾包他們愛吃的有機餅乾、一打啤酒、還有 24 罐一包的汽水。

A: Also get a few packs of cashews and pistachios. They eat so much, it’s like living with a pack of hungry little wolves.
A: 還要幾包腰果與開心果，他們吃那麼多，好像是跟一群飢餓的小狼們住在一起。

B: Just wait for a few years, and they will outgrow us like a pack of big wolves…
B: 再等幾年，他們就會是一群比我們還大的狼了。

A: Why are you buying so many packs of cards?  Are you running an underground casino?
A: 你為什麼買那麼多副的撲克牌，你在開地下賭場嗎？

B: No…  Some of us at the lab are working on a new experiment, and we are using cards as props.
B: 不是啦。我們在實驗室做研究，撲克牌是道具。

A: Experimenting black jack?
A: 研究 21 點啊？

B: Haha, not exactly.  It’s more about testing some questionable statistics of a different researcher’s thesis.
B: 哈哈，不算是。是要測試另外一個研究者不大可靠的統計數據。

A: You know people say statistics are really just a pack of lies.
A: 你知道，很多人說統計數據只不過是一派謊言。

B: Well, that’s see if we can prove them right!
B: 嗯，那就證明大家說的是正確的！
